I’ve been trying to formulate the words to express how I feel about Carolyn’s passing and what she meant to the world. It’s been difficult.
When you meet someone at your lowest and they begin to witness, guide, help, and hold space for you during a major life transformation….it creates a relationship with depth. Then one day you become equals as both of you survived the transformation and came out the other side a more authentic version of yourselves.
We would talk about that a lot. About the things we were doing in life and how it made us the most authentic versions of ourselves. Can you ask much more out of life than to arrive at a point where you become the most authentic version of oneself?
Carolyn became a steady mainstay in the background of my life. The positivity she exuded and the light she possessed made everyone feel…better. Better about their life and better about their current situation. That kind of stuff is invaluable during major life transformation.
The last few years she would always ask about Giana and we’d share stories about my kids and her grandkids, and about trips out to Colorado.
There is certainly an amount of unfairness to those she left behind. She will be missed greatly.
The world is a little dimmer today. I think she’d want us to go be the light anyway.
